A student on the SIT Madagascar Traditional Medicine and Healthcare Systems program discusses research being done.

Dear friend,

I would like to extend a special invitation to join SIT Study Abroad and colleagues from our partner schools at a one-day workshop focusing on advising for SIT programs in Asia and the Pacific. This full-day workshop will take place just prior to the CIEE annual conference on Tuesday, November 7 at the University of Texas at Austin.

Joining us from the SIT Asia and the Pacific programs team will be Academic Dean Dr. Brian Hammer and Ulziijargal (Ulzii) Sanjaasuren, academic director of the Mongolia: Nomadism, Geopolitics, and the Environment semester program.

The workshop agenda will include, among other topics:
  • An overview of SIT programs in the Asia and the Pacific region.
  • An in-depth overview of the SIT Mongolia: Nomadism, Geopolitics, and the Environment program.
  • A discussion of the current state of study abroad enrollment in the Asia and the Pacific region at our partner schools.
  • A panel discussion with SIT staff, UT Austin faculty & advisors, and a recent SIT alum on perspectives on studying abroad in the Asia and Pacific region.
  • A brainstorming session on best practices in advising for Asia and the Pacific programs.
  • Action planning on steps to increase student interest in studying in Asia and the Pacific.

There is no cost to attend this workshop and breakfast and lunch will be provided. The workshop will start at 9:00 am and we'll end the day by 5:15 pm. A reception will follow for those who can stay.

Space is limited, so we kindly appreciate your RSVP by October 16. Limited financial support may be available to assist with travel expenses associated with participating in the workshop. Please contact Blake Hart if you need more information.

SIT Study Abroad currently offers 18 summer and semester programs in the Asia and the Pacific region in Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal, Samoa, South Korea, and Vietnam. We remain committed to promoting Asia and the Pacific as a study abroad destination.

We hope you can join us in this goal and on November 7 in Austin, Texas!

Regards,

SIT Study Abroad
